- Limitations
When I try to launch ResumeFinder, I get an error message as 'Internet Explorer will open only on Administrator mode'.
When you are using Windows Vista, you need to open Internet Explorer in the Administrator mode. Right-click Internet Explorer application and click 'Run as Administrator'.
To open Internet Explorer by default in the Administrator mode, Right-click Internet Explorer application, click 'Properties'. In the Properties window, click the 'Advanced' tab and select 'Run as Administrator'.
Now you can launch ResumeFinder.
I have installed eGrabber ResumeFinder. But the toolbar is not added to my Internet Explorer.
When you install eGrabber ResumeFinder, it is automatically added as a toolbar to Internet Explorer. If it is not displayed, right-click the Internet Toolbar and select ResumeFinder [or] click 'View > Toolbars> ResumeFinder'.

In Internet Explorer, when I right-click the toolbar, ResumeFinder is not available in the menu.
If ResumeFinder is not available in the Toolbars menu, you need to check your security settings.
Click 'Tools > Internet Options'. In the 'Internet Options' dialog box, click the 'Advanced' tab. Ensure that the 'Enable third-party browser extensions' check box is selected. Now close Internet Explorer and again open it to update the changes. Check for the ResumeFinder toolbar in Internet Explorer.
If it is still not available, check the Add-ons. Click 'Tools > Manage Add-ons'. All the Add-ons in Internet Explorer are displayed. Select ResumeFinder and click Enable under the Settings.
Now you can find the ResumeFinder toolbar in Internet Explorer.

When I search for a keyword, lots of windows are opened in Internet Explorer. Why?
The search results are opened in different windows (tabs in Internet Explorer 7.0) according to the selected logic.
Each window or tab is specific for a particular query in the selected logic. For example, if your script file contains five queries, then five windows are opened.
How many windows or tabs can be opened at a time?
This depends on your system configuration. There is no practical limit for the maximum number of windows that can be opened.
The available memory in your system and other applications that are running in background while the search is performed determine the number of windows that can be opened. Approximately, you can open 45 to 50 windows or tabs at a time. It is recommended to open 20 windows or tabs at a time for better performance of Internet Explorer.

Is it possible to know the number of windows opened for a search?
Refer to the selected script file. The number of queries in the script file is equal to the number of windows opened. If a query contains commands like SITE, LOCATION, ZIP, PHONE, then the queries are executed based on the number of sites or locations selected.
In general each line in the script file, that is not commented, is considered as a query. The lines that contain semicolon (;) are considered as comments.
You can use the following formula to calculate the approximate number of windows that may be opened.
For a script file without the commands like SITE, LOCATION, ZIP, PHONE:
No. of queries => No. of non-commented script lines
For a script file that contains the commands:
No. of queries=>
No. of non-commented script lines x No. of selected sites
x No. of selected locations.

The search results are not specific to the selected location. Why?
Check the selected script file. If the script does not contain the keywords LOCATION, PHONE OR ZIP, then the search would not be performed specific to the location.
What is a Location Filter?
The Location Filter enables you to search for resumes based on the combination Location, Phone, ZIP range. These parameters are combined using the logical operators AND, OR, FREE. You can select the required parameters along with relevant logic to search for resumes.
For example, assume that you have selected the Location name as "NY" and the phone code as "212".
Now you can use one of the logical operators as follows:
- AND: Select this option to search for all the selected parameters. (Searches for New York AND 212)
- OR: Select this option to search for any of the selected parameters. (Searches for New York OR 212)
- FREE: Select this option to remove the AND, OR operators and to search for the combination of all the parameters. (Searches for New York 212)
I want to add a specific keyword in all my search queries. Is it possible?
Yes. Click Tools > ResumeFinder Options > Search Settings. In this window, enter your keyword to be repeated in the space provided for Default Keyword.
Now, whenever you perform a search, this default keyword is added to all the queries.
While searching for resumes, I get the error as "The page cannot be displayed"
In the 'Search Settings', if you have edited the Search URL or deleted it, you may come across this error.
If the URL provided is not valid, you do not get any search results. The URL should be pertaining to Google™.
Check the settings and try the search again. If you are not sure what settings you have changed, go the Profile Manager and restore the default profile to revert to the original settings.
How do I restore the original settings?
Click Tools > ResumeFinder Options > Profile Manager. Click Restore Default Profile to restore the original settings.
I get the error as "403: Forbidden error message".
There are multiple reasons for this error to occur:
- When ResumeFinder is used continuously with multiple queries, it may lead to this error message. If this error occurs, you may not be able to use Google for some time. Try using ResumeFinder after some time.
- When the search query is too long, Google may return this error. It is recommended to limit your search query to less than 15 words.
Why does Internet Explorer crash?
ResumeFinder performs a parallel search. Therefore, it opens multiple windows using different logics for the same keyword. Due to this, Internet Explorer may consume more system resources leading to crash.
I do not get any results. Why is ResumeFinder not providing any resumes?
ResumeFinder uses the Search Engine you have selected to find resumes. If resumes are not indexed by the Search Engine for the given keyword, ResumeFinder will not provide any results.
There may be no resumes found that match your search criteria. Check the keywords you have provided, change them and try again.
When you manually search using the Search Engines, it will take hours to arrive at the same conclusion; that no resumes are available to match your keyword.
ResumeFinder is a great time saver that provides the same results in seconds.

While performing a search, why do I get a warning message?
By default ResumeFinder can open 40 windows (or tabs) in Internet Explorer. If the search results are exceeding this number, you may get a warning message. If you click OK to proceed, it may cause memory problems based on your System configuration. Sometimes, this may even lead to crash of Internet Explorer.
You can click Cancel to abort the search process. The search results executed up to the point of aborting the process are retained.
It is recommended to limit your search to 40 windows or tabs to get better results.
As I aborted the process, only part of my search was executed. Can I resume the search to get the remaining result?
Once aborted, the partial search results are retained. But you cannot get the remaining search results. You need to perform the search with a different query to get the required results.
When I click the 'Find' button, no results are displayed.
Check the script of the logic you have selected. If the script file is not containing any commands, then ResumeFinder does not search for resumes. Add required commands to the file or select a different logic and then try the search.
I have not entered any keywords in ResumeFinder. But, when I click the 'Find' button, some search results are displayed. How?
The search results are based on not only the keywords but also the other settings made in the Search Settings, Location Filter and Script. Hence, even there are no keywords provided, ResumeFinder searches for resumes based on the other settings and displays results.
Limitations
- ResumeFinder will work only in Internet Explorer version 6.0 and 7.0.
- ResumeFinder will work in Vista under Administrator mode.
- Google may not give results if the search query is too long (more than 15 words).
- '403: Forbidden Error' message will be displayed, when ResumeFinder is used continuously or when the search strings are long.
- Opening too many windows / tabs at a time may lead to crash of Internet Explorer and also may display '403: Forbidden Error'.
- ResumeFinder looks for resumes indexed by the Search Engines. If the resumes are not indexed to the corresponding Search Engine, you may not find any results.
