Multidyne is a long-term user of ACT!. They import leads from several 3rd party lists and internet. They maintain ACT! database with more than 100,000 records. Importing records from different sources leads to data duplicates, due to the lack of efficiency in ACT!'s in-built duplicate checking algorithm in flagging duplicates. The in-built duplicate checking algorithm in ACT! is very rudimentary and basic, and manual duplicate checking is not practical or feasible.
Difficulties Include:
- Limited search fields to find duplicate records.
- Hard to find duplicates with slight variations.
- Requires manual checking of each duplicate record in groups of two. If there are more than 2 duplicate records for a given contact, only 2 records can be eliminated at a time.
Due to this inefficiency in ACT!, multiple business emails were sent to the same email address, which ended-up in spamming.
