When you use stationery to send auto responses for incoming email, they are sent to the 'from address' of the incoming email. The mail merge template will extract data in the email, create an email merge auto response and send it.

The other solution is to first select each field and in Properties, enter Number of lines / Number of characters, so that only the text is picked up and not the line.

You might have selected the option "Cancel transfer if contact exists " in the Duplicate check criteria of the template.
Even though only one email is selected for transfer, the message in the transfer window seems to show more than one email being transferred. Why is this happening?
When handling forwarded, redirected or reply mails even in a single transfer, the transfer status window might show that it is transferring email no. 2/3/4 ..... The reason behind this is that if the mail has content in the forward/ reply, the redirected part of the mail is treated as a separate mail. Actually it is transferring a single mail only. The content is not altered.
